This is not an official Chasing Sunrise event.
This event is being run and managed by BCMC.
On August 19th, dozens of us went out and helped Chris Ludwig and his crew putting in a new trail up to Watersprite with trail building on the Watersprite trail. But a trail like this needs a hell of a lot more than a day to build, so on October 7th, we're getting back at it.
Yah, it's going to be a long day, but this is the kind of work we can go home feeling proud of.
We're looking to rally a big crew (100+ people), so if you're down sign-up below and we'll be in touch with more details.
What: Watersprite trail building with the BCMC.
When: Sat October 07 / 7:00AM
Meet Up: St. Davids Church Parking lot
1575 Taylor Way, West Vancouver BC then heading to trail head.
Return: Same day, sometime in the evening
Trail Head: Watersprite trail head is in Squamish, off the Mamquam River forest Road just past the Chief. Driving directions from the meeting place can be found here.
Rides: Access to the trail head requires a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Let us know if you have one in the sign-up below and we will be doing our best to organize rides.
Gear: BCMC is suggesting to bring rain gear and headlamps as a precautionary measure.
All work will be done under the guidance of some of the best trail builders in BC. You will be helping to:
- Clear the S Line in the Jungle.
- Clear the Upper Road and Grub
- Tame the Boulderfield
This will be a long day due to the upper party working at the upper reaches of the trail. You can choose the length of your day depending on which zone you choose to work at
If you are down to join the crew, get a little dirty, and put in a solid day's work that makes a difference, put your name down below. Work like this helps make sure we keep these places as pristine as possible, while being able to handle the increasing number of people that are showing up.
This is the work that keeps these places what they are, for a long, long time.
